Company Owner and certifying engineer Ian Ward has a passion for Aircraft since the early 1980's, starting a career with Alan Mann at Fairoaks Airport. Progressing through a company apprenticeship his focus moved to sheet metal structures in the early 90's. with vast experience gained working alongside expert engineers involved with civilian and military A/C. A decision to go it alone was made in 2006. incorporated VMI Engineering starting at Thruxton, moving to fixed premises specialising in Spitfire up to 2022. VMI then moved premises to Bournemouth International Airport into a 5000 sq ft hangar which is fully equipped with all the equipment and approvals needed to carry out light aircraft repairs. VMI has just completed 20 years in business.
